’Money’ Steps Into The Social Poker Sphere

Tia Winter | 23 February 2018

Floyd Mayweather Jr announced his official retirement from boxing after his recent match against MMA sensation Conor McGregor, his victory in which earned him over $200 million. However, Money’s fans know that the boxing icon never stays down for long, and now Mayweather is back and ready for action – this time in the world of online poker.

In his latest partnership venture, Mayweather has cemented his love for poker by inking a deal that will see him become the presenter of the new online poker game from Hero Digital Entertainment and PlayTRex: Wild Poker.

Money has always been passionate about playing poker in his spare time, and now players will be able to join his virtual avatar form in the new safari-themed poker title. The boxer will assume the role of the game’s presenter as a likeness of himself, although players will even have the chance to play the game as Mayweather himself if they so choose.

Cool Critter Avatars & Social Fun

A unique twist on classic Texas Hold’em Poker, Wild Poker offers funky animal poker players as avatars through its advanced and colourful graphics. The game incorporates immersive elements like adventure, poker strategy, decision making in real time, in-game power ups, and an engaging in-game journey as well, enabling players to develop their animal characters’ special skills in order to beat the house.

Mayweather’s character also has a set of unique skills that players can use to their advantage, although interesting, boxing is not one of them this time! The 15 time boxing champ has noted in an official statement that as soon as he saw Wild Poker, he knew he wanted to be involved in it, as it is ‘different to any other game [he’s] seen’ and subsequently takes poker to ‘another level’.

Wild Poker To Evolve Social Poker

Money’s partnership with Israeli developer PlayTRex is the professional boxer’s first step into the world of poker, which was arranged by ONE Entertainment on his behalf. ONE’s CEO Brent A. Johnson noted that combining mobile gaming with Mayweather’s brand has been an ‘organic fit’, and that his firm is excited to introduce Wild Poker to Money’s some 50 million fans around the world.

PlayTRex CEO Daniel Kashmir also noted that his firm’s mission with Wild Poker is to ‘evolve’ social casino gaming to appeal to as many players as possible. By adding Mayweather as a presenter, the developer is confident that its new poker game will do just that – and, as with everything Money participates in, the game could soon become a veritable goldmine for all involved.
